Urgent Care Symptom and Treatment Review

Date: Saturday 18 July 2026

Type: Letter

Summary

The main reason I came today is that the numbness in my right hand is more noticeable today than yesterday. My right hand is also weaker and more difficult to use.

I have also had severe thirst, increased urination, fatigue, sleepiness, dizziness and a heavy feeling in my head since early July. I tried ORS once. It helped only for a short time, and the symptoms continued.

I am also near the end of a seven-day course of Fucibet cream for a recurring hand skin problem. I have about one day of treatment left and need advice about whether to complete it and then stop.

My next routine GP appointment is not until 6 August 2026.

Background

Two groups of symptoms developed close together during July 2026:

A new MSK exercise programme began on 2 July 2026. This may be relevant to the pulling sensation near my right shoulder blade, but I do not know whether it explains the hand numbness, weakness and systemic symptoms.

Systemic Symptoms

I previously tried one oral rehydration solution because I was concerned about fluid or electrolyte loss.

It provided only temporary relief. It did not resolve the thirst, increased urination, fatigue or dizziness.

I have not continued using ORS regularly because I do not know the cause of the symptoms. I need advice before using ORS, electrolyte supplements, extra salt or substantially increasing my fluid intake.

Notes

I tried ORS once and it provided only temporary relief. I would like advice on whether I can continue using ORS, how much and how often would be safe, and how long I could use it.

I understand that ORS may not be suitable for regular or long-term use when the cause of the symptoms is unknown. I am open to buying an appropriate product myself or using something prescribed, but I need a safe advice to manage the symptoms until my GP appointment on 6 August 2026.
