# Urgent Care Symptom and Treatment Review Date: Saturday 18 July 2026 Type: Letter ## Summary The main reason I came today is that the numbness in my right hand is more noticeable today than yesterday. My right hand is also weaker and more difficult to use. I have also had severe thirst, increased urination, fatigue, sleepiness, dizziness and a heavy feeling in my head since early July. I tried ORS once. It helped only for a short time, and the symptoms continued. I am also near the end of a seven-day course of Fucibet cream for a recurring hand skin problem. I have about one day of treatment left and need advice about whether to complete it and then stop. My next routine GP appointment is not until 6 August 2026. ## Background Two groups of symptoms developed close together during July 2026: - systemic symptoms, including excessive thirst, increased drinking and urination, salt craving, severe fatigue, sleepiness, dizziness and head heaviness; - recurrent hand skin symptoms requiring Fucibet cream, together with reduced right-hand function and intermittent altered sensation. A new MSK exercise programme began on 2 July 2026. This may be relevant to the pulling sensation near my right shoulder blade, but I do not know whether it explains the hand numbness, weakness and systemic symptoms. ## Details ### Timeline - 2 July 2026: - Began a new MSK exercise programme. - 6 July 2026: - Developed marked thirst. - Began drinking and urinating more frequently. - Developed salt craving, severe fatigue and unusual sleepiness. - Following days: - Developed intermittent dizziness and head heaviness. - The hand skin problem recurred. - 14 July 2026: - Blood samples were taken. - I do not know whether all results are complete. - 15 July 2026: - Fatigue, sleepiness, dizziness and head heaviness became more noticeable. - 16 July 2026: - I could no longer lift my usual frying pan using the right hand alone. - 17 July 2026: - Right-hand numbness was absent or only very slight. - 18 July 2026: - The intermittent numbness and altered sensation became noticeably more frequent and apparent than yesterday. - The right hand also felt weaker and more difficult to use. ### Right Hand and Arm - Reduced right-hand and right-arm function. - Intermittent numbness or altered sensation, mainly across the palm towards the four fingers. - The numbness is more noticeable today than yesterday. - Opening food packets and lifting heavier everyday objects have become more difficult. - Use of the right upper arm can produce a pulling or tight sensation near the upper-right shoulder blade. - I can still make a fist, hold a cup, use cutlery, type and raise both arms without one dropping. - No facial droop, new speech problem, sudden visual loss or new leg weakness. ### Systemic Symptoms - Persistent excessive thirst. - Increased drinking and urination. - Preference or craving for salty fluids. - Severe fatigue and unusual sleepiness. - Intermittent dizziness and head heaviness. - No spinning or whirling sensation. - No vomiting or diarrhoea. I previously tried one oral rehydration solution because I was concerned about fluid or electrolyte loss. It provided only temporary relief. It did not resolve the thirst, increased urination, fatigue or dizziness. I have not continued using ORS regularly because I do not know the cause of the symptoms. I need advice before using ORS, electrolyte supplements, extra salt or substantially increasing my fluid intake. ### Skin Treatment - Current medicine: Fucibet cream. - It was prescribed as a seven-day course. - Approximately one day of the prescribed course remains. - The final scheduled application is expected to be on Monday morning, 20 July 2026. - Some cream may remain in the tube after the prescribed course ends. - I do not intend to extend the course myself without medical advice. - I need advice on whether to complete the remaining applications and then stop. - I also need advice on whether the recurring skin condition requires further or alternative treatment. ## Questions / Requests - Please assess the right-hand numbness and reduced function, and advise me what I should do until my GP appointment on 6 August 2026. - Please advise me how to manage the thirst, increased urination, fatigue and dizziness safely until 6 August 2026. - Please advise whether I should complete the remaining Fucibet applications and then stop. ## Notes I tried ORS once and it provided only temporary relief. I would like advice on whether I can continue using ORS, how much and how often would be safe, and how long I could use it. I understand that ORS may not be suitable for regular or long-term use when the cause of the symptoms is unknown. I am open to buying an appropriate product myself or using something prescribed, but I need a safe advice to manage the symptoms until my GP appointment on 6 August 2026.
